Prisoners Aid has volunteers in most of the centres in which we have offices. In 2012 our volunteers nationally numbered around 80, with several boasting relationships of several decades with our organisation or our various PARS members.
Prisoners Aid volunteers are supported in their role by local volunteer co-ordinators and receive professional training before being deployed in the community and ongoing development once they’re in the field.
The services we offer nationally may include:
- Prison visiting
- Taking families and children out to visit parents in prison
- Becoming a pen-pal
- Supporting prisoners who have recently been released
We’re always looking at other ways we can work to support the community.
